Alpine Club Paint Before and After

Repainting the cabinet took almost three weeks of evening and weekend preparation to repaint. Luckily the weather in Northern Virginia has been warmer than normal during December 2004 and January 2005.
I bought spray paints from Michael's craft store. I used the following colors to repaint the cabinet:
Butter Creme #750 Colortool Spray Paint by Design Master. This is the yellow for the background.
Basil #676 Colortool Floral Spray Paint by Design Master. This is the green.
Regal Blue #1901 Interior-Exterior Spray Paint by Krylon. This is the blue.
Before I repainted the cabinet, I sanded down the existing paint and filled in the gaps with wood putty. I also used White Primer Spray Paint that Primes, Seals and Protects by Krylon. I assume any white primer would work.
I hand taped all of the green and blue areas. This took a long time, especially when going around the rounded edges. Depending on the direction of the curve, I either used many small pieces to simulate a curve or used an exacto knife to cut the curve from the tape. I have a pinball dolly so I had the pinball machine resting on the pinball dolly with the legs off. With the dolly, I was able to move the pinball around as I was working on each side and needed the side to face the light. I did all of the work in the garage with a $27 respirator from home depot. I primed all of the yellow area with the white primer. After it dried, I painted the background. This took several coats. I was careful not to create runs. I started painting over tape so that I did not get dark thick spots.
Once the yellow was dried, I removed the tape covering the green areas. I then taped the outside of all green areas and covered all of the yellow. This also took a long time because of the curves. I primed the green areas then painted. I pulled off the tape. Some of the yellow pulled off. I needed to correct this at the end of the process. It is visible close up but not from a few feet away.
I removed all the tape and taped around the blue areas. Luckily these were all straight lines and took less time to tape (saved the "easiest" for last). I primed the blue areas then painted. After the tape was off, I corrected some of the yellow areas and fixed up some of the bleeding of colors.
