HAUNTED HOUSE was the last of Gottlieb's System 80 series
of games and is today a classic and much sought after part of pinball
history, making for truly spine-chilling prices! In its day though, HAUNTED
HOUSE was really haunted with operating problems and high production costs,
so the production run was quite modest at only 6,835.
With it's interconnected "cellar" and "attic" playfields, this was the first
true 3-level pinball game to be built, and it's 8 flippers are also the most
ever on a conventional pinball game.
The house from Hitchcock's "Psycho" was the inspiration for the back-glass
image, lit by flashes of lightning, whilst Bach's "Toccata & Fugue" blasts
out to accompany play on the main level. The combination of the 3 playing
levels, music, artwork and game play lead many to consider HAUNTED HOUSE to
be a near perfect pinball package.
This machine is incredible with all original parts. So many others have had
nightmare stories about maintaining HHs. Not this one ! Very rare all
original parts working beautifully. Just stripped everything off the
playfields, took everything apart, cleaned and waxed. New bulbs, new fuses,
and new rubber. Backglass is fantastic, inside is clean, cabinet has one
ding on front right side. Overall, the best HH I have seen.
